Together We Grow Pale

Together We Grow Pale is about the sense of loss that has accompanied my experience of motherhood. A loss not often spoken of, a loss of freedom, time, self. It is about the darkness, the sorrow, the rage, that exists alongside the light, the tenderness, the love. It is about the ambivalence of motherhood. The pictures were taken by myself and my two young daughters, aged 4 and 6 at the time, in two countries and two homes, the UK and Turkey, as the period when they were taken was also marked by a relocation. The authorship, as well as the location, are blurred, like our selves, intertwined and lost within each other, disorientated.
